I am a writer and researcher deeply interested in how animals and science intersect in American history.  I am a cultural historian with a PhD in American Studies, a former equine veterinary technician, and a lifelong horsewoman.  My work with animals informs the kinds of questions I ask about them in history, and history helps me understand the complexities of human-animal networks in the present.

See my CV for my academic work, as well as my page on Humanities Commons.

See A Writer's Cadastre for musings about the relationships between complex and mundane things I encounter as we go along.   It is not updated often, but has some good bits nonetheless.
